Tai Erum Tai Erum, Roast Master for Coffee
Times, was born here on Kauai, but spent most
of his academic life in California. His Hawaiian
agricultural roots stretch back to the early sugar
cane plantation days when his Grandparents traveled
to Kauai from the Philippines in search of opportunity
and adventure. With hard work and determination
their dreams were realized and through Tai, their
spirit lives on. Tai is a writer, photographer,
traveler and technology/internet enthusiast. He

Kirk Lee Aeder is a world renown ocean
sports photographer who moved to the Big Island
nearly seven years ago. He previously lived for
ten years on Maui. Besides his stunning photography
of the Hawaiian Islands, Kirk travels regularly
to far off places like Japan where he shoots photos
for a variety of travel magazines. As a photo
journalist, he is currently the overseas editor
for Surfing World magazine in Japan, and has been
published frequently in American publications
like Sports Illustrated, Outside, and Endless

Marta Lane has been a storyteller for
25 years. She spent a considerable amount of time
in the television industry, most recently as an
editor, before turning her hand to freelance writing.
Currently, she is a feature writer for Coffee
Times, a website dedicated to selling and promoting
Kona coffee. She also writes the restaurant review
“Tastes of Kauai” for MidWeek Kauai and is a featured
blogger on all things Kauai for a large travel

Harumi Kobayashi
is a graphic & web designer who owns Mejiro Graphics.
She designed the Coffee Times labels and Coffee
Times magazines. After living on Kauai for three
years she moved to Olympic Peninsula in Washington
state in 2006. During the cold Olympic winters,
she continues to design graphics and websites
for Coffee Times while dreaming of the sun and

Amy Hoff is a Scottish historian who teaches
at Hawai'i Community College. She is the author
of a travel column and two historical fiction
novels about piracy set in Scotland. She currently

Carol Prism has lived in Hawaii 17 years,
half that time on Oahu and the rest on the Kona

Betty Fullard-Leo, as a freelance writer,
has been covering Hawai'i culture, travel, art,
food and lifestyle for fifteen years. A 1980 graduate
of the University of Hawaii school of journalism,

Lance Tominaga is a freelance writer in
Honolulu who has done assignments for Spirit of
Aloha (the official in-flight publication of Aloha
Airlines), Hawaii Business, Hawaii Magazine and
more. He is formerly the editor of ALOHA, The
Magazine of Hawaii and the Pacific. A graduate
of the University of Hawaii (Journalism, 1988),
he is currently working on his first book (a Hawaii

Andrew Nisbet has been living on the Big
Island of Hawaii with his wife Tina since 1995.
Together they have pioneered and run an Internet
marketing business and today manage over 150 websites.
Andrew has maintained the Coffee Times website
